I've just published a novella, Prayers of the Night, on Kindle.
It responds to a question that occurred to me many years ago--what would a priest do, how would he cope, if forced to become a vampire?
So, yeah, this story isn't for everyone. But if you're a fan of gothic fiction, and stories of wrestling with faith and fate, and a few surprises, then it's for you.
The first section was completed about thirty-five years ago and I thought for a long time that it was simply a short story. The main character lingered in my mind, though, and eventually I wrote more. And then more. The ending, a resolution, didn't come until the moment I began typing that page (which meant I needed to go back and change a few things, but direct paths are less interesting than winding ones).
To buy it for Kindle for just $2.99, click here. It's published under "Timothy Mosher," making rare use of my official first name.
I'm planning to also offer it in paperback through Amazon in the near future. Though I have reservations about Amazon (Bezos related), it's the best option at the moment. If a publisher expresses interest I can always make a change. There's not much of a market for novellas in any genre and self-publishing through Kindle or Nook or the like is one of the only ways to give people a chance to see this story. So, as my main character discovers at length, the ideal and the real wave at each other across a great chasm.
Send me questions if you'd like. Best is by email or text; leaving them here might not catch my eye so quickly.
